This is a page of inspiration and appreciation, to share with you all my favourite foods, chefs, cookery books, websites and blogs!
Being a healthy eater 6 days a week I really have to use my brain when it comes to eating my favourite foods, I’ve become a bit of an expert in making some of my favourite dishes healthily.
I don’t eat red meat because I don’t like it, I find if I eat it I get sick so I mostly get my protein from chicken, white fish and beans. Luckily the carbs have always appealed to me more, it always been “what shall I have with my potatoes/rice/pasta” not “what shall I have with my chicken”!
Even though I live in England there’s not much English food I enjoy, I adore fish and chips and I love a good roast dinner but apart from that I eat mostly spicy food. I add chilli to pretty much everything, I adore a good Indian curry; I love Malaysian food, Mexican food, Moroccan food, Spanish food and Italian food amongst many many more!
I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth, I’ve always loved chocolate and I recently discovered the amazing combination of chocolate and peanut butter but my heart lies with savoury. Sweet dishes are also my week point when it comes to cooking, so I’ve decided to cook at least one sweet dish a week to get over my fear!
The first cookery books I ever owned were both ‘Cook Yourself Thin’ diet books, the wonderful Gizzi Erskine recipes were always my most loved and when I brought her first solo book I fell in love big time. Not only is she beautiful, stylish and cool – she loves to cook healthy food and Asian food, my two very favourite things to cook. She’s the chef I go to first for any recipe and I just brought her new book this morning, it’s dedicated to healthy foods and I can’t wait to get cooking!
I also love Rick Stein, his Far Eastern book and tv series are amazing. Jamie Oliver, Bill Granger, The Hairy Bikers and the wonderful Madhur Jaffrey!
I love foodgawker.com, if you haven’t checked it out, I suggest you do. Basically it’s a website where food bloggers can upload pictures of their food that links back to the recipe on the blog, as a reader you can browse and save these recipes in one easy place. I’ve discovered so many delicious recipes on foodgawker and many inspiring food bloggers.
